SUN PROTECTION - THE REASON FOR SOLAR SYSTEM.

Sunshine represents warmth and light given by the sun’s rays and provides the energy that sustains life on our planet. It’s a happy and cheerful sounding word, but in fact, the sun’s rays can cause irreparable damage to our skin, even on cloudy days. Most people don’t realize that regular clothing lets through a surprising amount of UV radiation.

Physicians have become increasingly aware of the increase in skin cancer in the world and that all people need to protect themselves from harmful UV radiation. The danger caused by UV radiation includes skin cancer and permanent, sometimes blinding, damage to eyes and premature aging such as wrinkling and age spots. Ultraviolet A and Ultraviolet B rays (UVA and UVB), considered invisible light, penetrate the Earth’s atmosphere and our skin. UVA, which penetrates the skin more deeply than UVB, plays a major part in skin aging and wrinkling, and causes significant damage in areas of the epidermis (outermost skin layer) where most skin cancers occur.

UVB, the primary cause of skin reddening and sunburn, tends to damage the skin’s more superficial epidermal layers. It plays a key role in the development of skin cancer and a contributory role in tanning. Its intensity varies by season, location, and time of day. The most significant amount of UVB occurs between 10 AM and 4 PM from April to October.

Clothing is rated for its level of UV protection according to an Ultraviolet Protection Factor or UPF. Whereas some other sources provide only protection from UVB rays, take comfort in knowing that Solar System® clothing offers “Broad Spectrum Coverage”, protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Compared to sunscreen lotions, Solar System® is less expensive, as it is bought only once, but lasts for many seasons, and more effective since the sun blocking protection never wears out.

Benefits of Clothing Made with Recycled Polyester: curbs air pollution from incinerators,creates less air, water and soil contamination, reduces non-biodegradable landfill waste,lessens dependence on oil, and one shirt made from recycled polyester uses about twenty (20) 2-liter plastic bottles,or 50,000 shirts will prevent 1,000,000 plastic bottles from occupying space in the landfill.
